About Us
Active Achievers has been serving Baltimore since 2013. We began with children and youth up to age 15, then recognized a gap. Older youth were aging out of programming with nowhere to land and no clear pathway to a career.
We built that pathway. Over the past several years we have expanded our offerings, partnered with more high schools and community organizations, secured funding to deepen our programs, and grown into a second facility on Bowleys Lane. What started as youth programming is now a full ecosystem of mentorship, workforce development, summer camp, and family support under one roof.
The growth continues. Our Family Support Center opens in April 2027.

WHO WE ARE
Active Achievers Inc. is a nonprofit youth and family serving organization working in close partnership with a high quality child care center and nonpublic nursery school. We are a hub for quality mentoring, child care, employment opportunities, future forward training, family support, and homelessness prevention for older youth.
We foster a sense of belonging for families, ensure a welcoming environment for children, and give youth and young adults the resources they need to build developmentally and culturally appropriate futures for themselves and for the children in their care.
WHO WE SERVE
- Opportunity Youth - ages 16 to 24
- Young Parents - under age 24
- Children and campers - ages 3 to 12 through our summer program
- Families - across Baltimore City seeking parenting support, early childhood resources, and connection
HOW WE MEASURE SUCCESS
We track progress through ongoing observation, leadership assessments, training completion, participation in mentorship events, data collection, and quarterly reflections. Success looks like credentials earned, jobs held, degrees pursued, families stabilized, and young people who stay connected long after their program ends.
WHAT WE DO
Youth Workforce & Career Pathways
Direct career exposure to the child care industry, professional child care training, entrepreneurship training, leadership development, and job placement support. Our youth do not shadow from a distance. They train, earn credentials, and step into real roles.
Mentorship
Long term mentor relationships built on consistency and trust. We treat our mentees like extended family, and those relationships continue well after a program cycle ends.
Degree Ready Track / ABJ
A structured pathway supporting young people toward postsecondary credentials and degree completion in early childhood education and related fields.
Summer Camp
A full summer program serving children ages 3 to 12 with meals, swimming, field trips, and enrichment, staffed by trained seasonal team members, many of them program alumni
Youth Safe Space
A dedicated space where young people can gather, study, decompress, and access staff support during and outside program hours.
Family Support Center
(Opening December 2026)
Our Family Support Center at Bowleys Lane will be a free and welcoming place for families. Parents will find parenting classes, early childhood resources, play and learning time for young children, a resource room of their own, and staff who help them connect to what they need across the city.
Provider & Workforce Development
Through PositionED for Pre-K, Active Achievers supports child care owners across the city in positioning themselves to qualify as future Pre-K Expansion grant sites. Every provider who gets there opens more high quality classrooms for Baltimore’s children and more career opportunities for the youth we train.
